Controller:

We are seeking a dynamic Controller to join our close-knit team at our small family-owned business. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing financial activities, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the overall success of our organization. As a key member of our team, you’ll wear multiple hats, collaborating closely with various departments and playing a pivotal role in our operation. Job Summary:

The Byers’ Choice Controller leads the company’s accounting department, oversees the responsibilities of the senior accountant and accounting clerk, and reports directly to the owners.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces annual projections and reports significant differences to management.
• Provides quarterly financial analysis.
• Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities.
• Supervises cash procedures and monitor cash balances.
• Oversees and assists with cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
• Works with external accounting firms and provides needed information for the annual review.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Assists in the planning and execution of special events (1-3 weekends/year).
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Ten years or more of related experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
• Experience in cost accounting and manufacturing industry is desirable.
• Experience with retail and wholesale sales is desirable.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Production Artisian - Header:

Byers’ Choice Ltd. is the manufacturer of the Carolers®, one of America’s most collected figurines. Based in Chalfont, Bucks County, PA, we have been in business for over 40 years as a family owned, values based, hand-crafted, made in the USA, company. Our campus-like facility attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Joyce Byers, creator of the original Carolers and founder of the company, designs each new Caroler and then teaches our artisans how to make them. The wonder of our Carolers is that each artisan adds their own uniqueness and inspiration to each piece, making no two the same.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team of Production Artisans for the following position: Head Maker (aka: header)

Job Summary:

Our production artisans in the heading department specialize in hand-crafting the caroler heads from start to finish. Areas of this specialty are:

• working with clay and molds
• painting the heads
• featuring the faces

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Cut clay slugs with a hand-held cutter and fill mold tray.
• Press each mold on automatic press machine then push clay into desired shape for removal from mold.
• Coat the clay head with water-based paint, this is called fleshing.
• Apply features using different size brushes and mixed oil-based paint, this is called featuring.
• Produce the number of heads required to meet quota each day.
• Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

• An outgoing, pleasant personality with excellent verbal communication skills.
• A good “artistic eye” for color and creativity.
• Must be good at using hands to create, this includes grasping, pinching, and pulling.
• Recognize that this is a production environment and utilize good time management skills to meet quota.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with handcrafts, plaster, clay, or painting is preferred.
• Production experience is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Perform hand and arm motions that include pinching, gathering, gripping, pulling, bending wrist, bending elbow, and reaching.
• Ability to bend neck.
• Ability to lift and lower up to 25 pounds, from floor level to above shoulders.
