Cookie-licious - Who do we have to thank for the tradition of the Christmas cookie? The creators of the Lebkuchen of course! Pronounced LAYB-kue-chn and sometimes referred to as Pfefferkuchen - it is a German baked Christmas treat resembling gingerbread that dates back to the medieval monks in Franconia, Germany in 1296 in the city of Ulm. Most famously known today as an export of Nuremberg, the main ingredients consist of: Hazelnuts, Walnuts, Almonds, Candied Orange and Lemon Peel.
